Waking up to soft sheets, warm sun pouring through an ocean front window, and delectable room service is how one should begin every Saturday morning, yes? A few weeks back, Mr. TBF and I spent a weekend at Gurney's Resort in Newport, RI, and that's exactly how it started. Well, ok, it started with a complimentary bottle of champagne and dinner the night before. Well, ok, ACTUALLY it started a few weeks before that when we found a fantastic package for Gurney's on Gilt City Boston, one of my favorite places to find great deals on travel, food, beauty, clothing, experiences and more.
Situated on Goat Island, surrounded by Narragansett Bay, Gurney's has the feel of a private island resort, yet it is just a quick walk (or shuttle ride) to all of the shops and eateries of Newport's downtown waterfront. There's also a popular restaurant, a very chic bar, an indoor and outdoor pool, a spa, and two goats, Cornelius and William, who live in a mini-goat-mansion on the grounds (that's them cuddling above). It's the perfect place to stay if you are headed to Newport for the Volvo Ocean Race or the Newport Folk Festival.
While the Gurney's deal is no longer on Gilt City Boston, I like to check in on the site once a week or so to check out the great bargains. Right now, I'm loving this deal on sailing in Martha's Vineyard, and this deal on pool passes at the Revere Hotel in Boston.
