This time of year, people always ask, "are you traveling this summer"? And my answer is a resounding "no". Summer in New England is so fantastic - why would I ever want to leave? I'll save my traveling for February thank you very much. That said, just because I'm not traveling doesn't mean I don't want to take a little time off and have some fun. Mr. TBF and I recently took a Boston "staycation" at the Element Boston Seaport hotel to play and explore in our own city.
Element is designed as an extended-stay hotel, and its amenities reflect that. Tucked off the lobby is Restore, a small shop with fresh fruit, wine, beverages and small, easy meals that can be quickly prepared upstairs in your fully stocked kitchen (all rooms have one!). Speaking of food, Element hosts a lovely breakfast each morning, offering way more than your usual continental (think: pancakes, breakfast sandwiches). To stay in shape while you're away, a full gym is available, with both machines and free weights, as well as a luxurious saltwater pool exemplifying Element's green values and their focus on bringing "the outside inside". There's also laundry and a business center, as well as a welcoming lounge and weeknight complimentary cocktail receptions.
We spent our time at Element enjoying wine and cheese in our room, strolling over to the Lawn on D and around the Seaport, taking a spin on the complimentary bicycles, and hitting up some of my favorite local restaurants (Hello, No Name Restaurant, Row 34, Drink, Papagayo). Oh, and sleeping late in a serious puff of a bed! All in all, the best way to do "summer travel".
Element Boston Seaport is located at 391-395 D Street, across from the Boston Convention Center and the Lawn on D. Book now with their Grand Opening Offer and receive rate from $149, a $20 food credit at to Restore and free breakfast and wifi.
