I love wearing simple, chic pieces that let accessories do the talking. Case in point - jeans, a long, basic top, and a funky handbag. The bag is from another H&M collaboration. But this time, it's not with a collaboration with a designer, rather, an artist - yes, Jeff Koons, he of shiny balloon dogs and terrier topiaries! Opinions are divided on Koons - some think he's brilliant, others find his work to be hyped-up kitsch. Nonetheless, I find the partnership between a popular, prolific artist (well aware of his critics, and pop culture appeal) and a hip mass merchandiser to be incredibly self-aware. Is the balloon dog bag a response to nay-sayers, or just a way to bring a little art to the masses? Either way, it's a fun statement piece.
The balloon dog bag will be carried in select markets across the US, as well as online beginning July 17, 2014.
