Can
you believe that Fashion Week starts in a month? I can't wait to see
what's new and upcoming for Fall 2012. But, given the crazy long lead
times in fashion, forgive me if I'm still not ready to give up one of
2011's biggest trends: Color-blocking, especially with pink and red tones.
Okay, okay, I've done it before, but I can't help coming back for more! Funny thing, I have worn this coral top (actually a dress) previously
and thought it was pink. But paired up against a shocking pink skirt,
the orange really comes out - it's a facet of one of my favorite pieces
that I have never before noticed. You might have seen this skirt before, too, just in a different color. I loved the length and the accordion pleats so much that I bought it in hot pink and gray (and, for $12.80 at H&M, that was totally feasible).
For one of my favorite examples of the pink/red trend, see Ruffian SS2012. How about you? Any trends from 2011 that you plan to keep rocking well into 2012?
P.S. You can see outfit outakes from this photoshoot, as well as other color-blocking examples on my Tumblr page!

ReplyDeleteThat's a dress? And that skirt was only $13?!
ReplyDeleteYou're good!
I've yet to wear the the coral/pink colour block pair, it's such a bright combo which I love and I've enjoyed seeing it on you, Najeema and Lissy!
And I think pink + orange is my favorite color blocking trend of all of them! Too pretty, and so jealous you got that skirt-- I never did track it down!
ReplyDeleteI love color blocking in the dead of winter. It's a nice change of pace from the sea of black puffer coats and uggs. I'll definitely be rocking this all through 2012!
ReplyDelete@A Stylized Hysteria - I know you love the hot pink! (See lots of Najeema's pink outfits from her 2011 outfit retrospective: http://www.astylizedhysteria.com/best-of-what-i-wore-in-2011/)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is one of my favorite pieces of yours! The color and the pleats are so perfect. And, of course, it looks amazing with the red top.

Yep! you look amazing :)
ReplyDelete@ Shanna-Marie - I know, right? I little chilly for sleeveless? I wore the sweater over the look most of the day. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's so colorful. Looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteYUP...still love color blocking! i wanted to rock a color blocked look for NYE, but ended up being too cold in PA, so maybe later on in the spring ^_^ hot pink accordion pleated skirt...must be a boston blogger thing :) i have it in knee length, you have it slightly longer & najeema has the maxi...we have to get a pic of the 3 of us in all 3 lengths!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too, still love color blocking! One trend from 2011 that I'm willing to take with me into 2012. :) And this outfit reminds me of the Giambattista Valli pink outfit from FW 2011-2012 collection, which I saw worn by Kirsten Dunst among others.
ReplyDeleteAdore that skirt! Great pictures too! If it weren't for the bare trees it almost looks like spring (and lucky us, it's not been too cold)!
ReplyDeleteThat outfit is so cute! I wish it were spring so you could go without the sweater but you definitely pull it off nicely! Are you going to NYFW next month??
ReplyDeleteI hope we can hang out soon!
xo
I love orange and pink together and like you, can't imagine tiring of it!
ReplyDeleteI know can't hardly wait for the new 2012 trends. But I'm with you I will definitely still be rocking the color blocking trend. I just can't get enough...And you're looking so gorgeous. Love the combo combination of the bright colors.
