I'm opening the blog today with some sobering thoughts. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is a little less 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35. While there is great sadness and fear in these facts, I was heartened last night by the spirit, hope and joy that I experienced at the Catwalk for a Cure event. A brilliant fundraiser, Catwalk for a Cure was part cocktail party, part silent auction and serious part runway show from local designers spotlighting breast cancer survivors as models (You can see videos from my two favorite shows: Drea Couture and Wesley Nault, on my You Tube Channel).
My outfit photos don't really do the event justice, but I wore a pink silk dress in honor of the cause, and, when I was taking outfit photos, I could not keep Winston and Clinton from getting involved...
