After yesterday's retina searing dress, I thought I would tone it down just a smidge for today's neon post. And I mean juuuust a smidge. I wore this skirt on St. Patrick's Day, during which I was in absolutely no danger of being pinched, because everyone could see that I was wearing green. Provided they could still see after looking at me.
Let me tell you a little secret about this skirt. I almost lost it once. I took it to Second Time Around on Charles Street to be consigned and, after three months, no one had purchased it. So I brought it home. I stared at it. My eyes ached. I stared at it some more. And suddenly, somehow, I decided that I loved it. How had I almost consigned my favorite skirt? Why would I even do such a thing??
Now, some might say that the fact I tried to get rid of the skirt and no one wanted it may mean something. Namely, it may mean that the skirt is ugly. But I just don't buy that. I think that it took some previously unknown audacity, some unlocked inner spunk to wear this skirt. I wasn't ready for it, Beacon Hill shoppers weren't ready for it. But with my newfound neon nerve, this is actually one of my favorite skirts in my closet.

Ooh that skirt is gooood - bright and eyecatching and looks fabulous teamed with that shirt. Who knew blue/denim and neon green are such a good match?!

you know what they say, if you let it go and it comes back, it was meant to be.
ReplyDelete@Miss A Thanks, Miss A! I had originally intended a lighter chambray top, but I was getting dressed, I realized it was dirty and wrinkled. Dark denim shirt to the rescue!
ReplyDelete@Ramon Ramon If you love something, set it free?
