Today is my birthday, fellow fashionistas! A lady never admits her age, but I will tell you about the amazing birthday dinner I enjoyed (Mr. BF is in class until late this evening, so we celebrated last night). One of our favorite restaurants, LaMorra, recently experienced a fire. Since they are rebuilding, they held a pop-up dinner last night at the Boston Wine School. It was an intimate evening, filled with interesting people, incredible wines (by M.S. Walker and VinDivino) and outstanding northern Italian fare (hand made pasta, an entire roasted pig). Thank goodness I planned ahead and wore a dress with a very full skirt!
Mr. BF arrived with flowers, and, despite having a wretched cold, was sweet, charming and attentive all evening. What a man! We tried several outstanding wines last night, including:
- NV Nino Franco 'Rustico' Prosecco (a perfect pre-dinner sip)
- 2008 Cusumano 'Jale' Chardonnay (normally I am not a chardonnay fan; this was surprisingly smooth!)
- 2006 Cusumano 'Sagana' Nero D' Avola (a delight!)
- 2004 Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino
- 2009 Nino Franco 'Primo Franco' Prosecco
I had never been to the Boston Wine School before, and what a place! Beautiful interior, fun classes, convenient location. Check it out!
(And yes, the bare legs were short lived. Back to tights! But they don't look so bad with a simple black party dress...)

Thanks all! This was such a fun, romantic evening. I should have held some of my flowers in the photos (Of course I only think of that now).
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! You're very Audrey Hepburn in this outfit! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThe gloves are a fab look. Dying to know what the back of that dress looks like... do I spy a cutout and tie?

ReplyDeleteEagle eye strikes again! There is a cut out and a sash, but sadly this was the best shot I could get of the back. But! I have big plans to wear this dress over the summer, at whihc point I will make sure Mr. BF is around to help get decent photos of the back of the dress. Until then, you can see (And buy! on sale!) the dress here: http://www.tulle4us.com/Products/default.aspx?grid=1&catid=6&proid=1279
